This page explains how to look after a doll or figure with a soft silicone or TPE body and an internal metal skeleton. Good sex doll care comes down to three things: posing the skeleton gently, cleaning the soft body carefully and keeping water away from the metal inside. If you are not sure how a silicone figure differs from a PVC one, our guide to silicone and PVC figures explains it. For fixed PVC display figures, see the anime action figures maintenance guide instead.
Silicone Body and Metal Skeleton
Most of the figures in our silicone anime figures and Hentai Figures categories have a platinum silicone body poured over an internal metal skeleton, and many also have a soft jelly chest. The skeleton lets the arms, legs and torso hold a new position, while the silicone or TPE around it is soft and marks easily. The same advice applies to our life-size dolls and mini TPE figures. Each care step below protects one of these two parts.
Posing the Skeleton
Bend each joint a little at a time and stop at a natural limit. Forcing a limb past that point can strain the frame and the silicone around it. Support the torso when you lift the doll so its weight is not carried by the limbs. A doll stand helps with standing poses or poses that put weight on one leg.
Cleaning the Silicone or TPE Body
Silicone and TPE both mark easily, so clean the surface gently and let it dry completely. Let the body dry fully before you dress the doll again.
Keeping Water Out of the Neck
When you wash the doll, keep water away from the neck opening. This is where the silicone is poured during production, and there is always a small gap between the metal skeleton and the silicone, so water can get inside and cause the skeleton to rust. Water trapped in a narrow gap like this is a known cause of crevice corrosion.
The skeleton is mainly stainless steel, but the screws and joints are not, and even stainless steel can rust if it stays wet for a long time. If water does get in, turn the doll upside down so the water slowly drains out through the neck.
Resting the Doll Between Uses
Return the doll to a relaxed position before you put it away, so the skeleton joints are not under constant tension. Keep the soft body clear of sharp edges, which can mark it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does water in the neck matter?
The neck is where the silicone is poured, and the small gap there between the skeleton and the silicone lets water reach the metal.
What should I do if water gets inside?
Turn the doll upside down so the water slowly drains out through the neck.
Is the skeleton rust-proof?
No. It is mainly stainless steel, but the screws and joints are not, and stainless steel can also rust if it stays wet for a long time.
Why should the doll rest in a relaxed position?
A relaxed position keeps the skeleton joints from being held under constant tension.
