2B Figure | Why I Did Not Make a Regular PVC Model

When I first decided to create this 2B figure, I did not begin by asking how to make her look more beautiful. I wanted this Nier Automata figure to feel different from a regular PVC model, because 2B should not become just another figure inside a crowded display cabinet.

A standard PVC figure can look good at first sight. However, this silicone anime figure needed to keep more of what made 2B memorable in NieR Automata: the black outfit, white short hair, blindfold, controlled movement, and the feeling that many things remain unsaid behind her actions.

Because of that, I chose a full silicone body, an internal skeleton, custom clothing, and a removable blindfold. These details help this 2B figure offer more than a fixed pose or a simple display shape.

Why This 2B Figure Needed More Than PVC

PVC Works Well for Many Anime Figures

I do not think PVC figures are bad. Many PVC anime figures have strong sculpting, clean painting, and stable display value. They work well for collectors who want a fixed pose, a clear shape, and an easy way to place a character inside a cabinet.

For many characters, that format already does the job. A fixed pose, a finished base, and a complete paint design can make the figure feel satisfying. Collectors can open the box, place the model under light, and enjoy the finished look without much extra care.

Why a Nier Automata Figure Needed a Different Direction

For 2B, I felt something was missing if I only followed that route. She is not a character whose full appeal can be shown through one dramatic pose. Her image comes from many smaller details: the way she stands, the way the blindfold changes the face, the way the black outfit works with the white hair, and the way she keeps moving even when the world around her has already fallen apart.

A regular PVC version could still look good. Yet it might only keep the outer shape. What I wanted to keep was the feeling I had when I first watched her walk through the ruined city in NieR Automata.

Why This 2B Figure Should Not Stay in One Fixed Pose

The Limit of a Fixed PVC Model

A regular PVC figure usually comes with one pose already decided. This can be convenient. Collectors do not need to adjust anything. They can place the figure on a shelf and leave it there.

However, with 2B, one fixed pose felt too limited. In the game, she does not leave an impression through one single movement. She can fight with sharp control, stand after a mission, or move through a ruined street as if the next order has already reached her.

Why Small Pose Changes Matter for 2B

I wanted this 2B figure to offer more than one viewing angle. Sometimes she can stand with a simple posture. At other times, she can sit in a more natural way. During photography, collectors can adjust the body slightly according to lighting, clothing, or background.

These changes do not need to look exaggerated. Even a small shift in the arm, waist, or head angle can change how the figure feels in a room. That is why I chose to add an internal skeleton.

Why This 2B Figure Uses a Full Silicone Body

Silicone Was Not Just About Softness

I did not choose a full silicone body just to say that the figure feels soft. That would make the material sound like a simple selling point, and that was not the reason behind the decision.

The real issue was the distance created by hard materials. Many hard figures look excellent in photos, but they still feel like objects meant to stay behind glass. You can admire them, but they often remain separate from the space around them.

For this Nier Automata 2B figure, I wanted a different result.

How Silicone Changes the Body Line

A full silicone body helps the shoulder, waist, and leg lines look more natural. When the black outfit sits on the body, the clothing does not appear as if it is simply placed over a hard shell. The shape under the fabric feels smoother, and the overall figure looks less like several separate parts assembled together.

This difference may not be easy to explain in one sentence. Yet after looking at the figure for a while, collectors can feel that it does not give the same impression as a standard hard model. For me, that was the real reason to use silicone.

How a Silicone Anime Figure Feels Different in a Room

2B Does Not Need a Busy Scene

2B does not need a crowded background to stand out. She can stand in a simple space and still make people think of NieR Automata. The face, blindfold, outfit, hair, and body proportion must work together. If those parts are right, the memory of the game naturally returns.

The full silicone body helped me reach that direction. It made the figure look less stiff around the shoulders and legs. It also allowed the outfit to sit in a more natural way.

Why Body, Outfit, and Face Must Work Together

If the body material and clothing do not match, 2B can easily look like a normal model wearing a costume. That was exactly what I wanted to avoid.

PVC can create a beautiful outer shape. However, for this version, I wanted collectors to feel that more attention had gone into the way the body, clothing, face, and accessories connected with each other.

Why the Internal Skeleton Matters in This 2B Figure

Not for Extreme Posing

The internal skeleton gives this 2B figure more ways to display the character. Collectors can adjust her into a standing pose, a sitting pose, or a slight turn of the body. The arm angle and leg position can also change based on the scene.

However, I do not want collectors to treat the skeleton as a toy joint system. It should not face extreme poses or forceful movement. The purpose is not to create exaggerated action. It is there to make the display feel more natural.

How to Handle the Skeleton Carefully

When adjusting the figure, move slowly and follow the natural direction of each joint. Do not bend the arms, legs, or waist backward against the structure. A small adjustment is often enough.

For 2B, subtle posture changes work better than large movements. She does not need a dramatic pose. She only needs a posture that matches the way people remember her from the game.

Why the 2B Figure Outfit Could Not Be Just a Black Dress

Why the Clothing Was Difficult

2B’s outfit may look like a black dress at first glance, but it cannot be treated like a normal black dress.

If the clothing looks too casual, she loses the sharp feeling of a combat character. If it looks too much like a battle uniform, the elegance of the original design disappears. If too many details are added, the outfit becomes distracting.

That balance made the clothing one of the hardest parts of the figure.

The Details That Had to Stay

The black visual tone needed to stay clear. The skirt shape had to match the body proportion. The boots had to support her combat image. The blindfold had to work with the face rather than cover it awkwardly.

I have always seen 2B’s outfit as part of the character, not as decoration added afterward. It works together with the face, hair, blindfold, and posture. If the clothing looks cheap or careless, the entire figure immediately loses its connection to 2B.

Why the Face Sculpt Matters More Than Measurements

Why Parameters Are Not Enough

Many people check figure size and body measurements first. Height, bust, waist, hips, and leg length all help collectors understand the real scale of the product. Those details matter, especially when someone needs to plan display space.

Still, for 2B, the face matters even more than the numbers.

The Face Must Lead Back to 2B

2B is not remembered only because of body shape. The first impression comes from the whole face: the outline, mouth, chin, and the way the blindfold changes how people read her expression.

The face sculpt cannot only chase beauty. If the features look too much like a common anime girl, the character recognition becomes weaker. If the expression looks too obvious, the result no longer matches how many fans remember 2B. If the face shape fails, the blindfold, hair, and clothing cannot fully bring the character back.

That is why I spent so much attention on this part. I did not want a generally pretty anime face. I wanted a face that would make people naturally think of 2B.

Why This 2B Figure Should Still Feel Interesting Later

Some Figures Lose Interest Too Quickly

Some figures create excitement the moment the box opens. The shape looks impressive, the photos look strong, and the details feel complete. However, after some time, one fixed angle and one fixed pose can make the figure feel less interesting.

I did not want this 2B figure to end that way.

A Figure That Can Be Viewed Again

This model can change with lighting, posture, outfit details, and display position. It does not need constant changes, but it should not feel completely finished after one look.

Someone who truly likes 2B usually wants more than proof of purchase. They want a character who can hold a place in their room. After days or months, they should still feel willing to adjust the angle, clean the surface, and look at her again.

That is one reason I chose a full silicone body and internal skeleton for this 2B figure.

How to Care for a Silicone 2B Figure

Basic Silicone Care Matters

Choosing silicone also means accepting the need for proper care.

Do not place the figure under strong sunlight for long periods. Avoid long contact with dark fabrics that may transfer color. Keep the display area dry and clean. When changing clothing, move carefully and avoid pulling too hard.

Pose Adjustment Needs Patience

The skeleton also needs careful handling. Do not force the joints backward. Do not push the body into a pose only for a photo. Move the arms, legs, and waist along natural directions.

These steps may require more care than a regular PVC figure. However, for collectors who want to keep this figure in good condition, the process becomes part of owning it. The more carefully you treat the figure, the better it can stay over time.

Who This 2B Figure Is For

Not for Every Collector

This type of 2B figure will not suit everyone.

If someone only wants a small, light, low-maintenance model for a desk, a regular PVC figure may be a better choice. It is simpler, easier to store, and requires less attention.

For Collectors Who Want More Than a Small Display Model

However, if you like 2B because of her role in NieR Automata, her story, and the way she stays in memory after the game ends, this full silicone version may feel closer to what you want.

It suits collectors who care about character recognition, careful display, adjustable posture, and the connection between material and clothing. It also suits people who want the character to have a clearer place inside their collection space.

2B is not a character that only works for a quick look. She rewards slower viewing. That is why I felt she fit this format.

Why This Nier Automata Figure Is Not a Regular Anime Figure

Looking Like 2B Is Only the First Step

A regular anime figure usually needs to answer two questions: does it look like the character, and does it look good?

Those questions matter. However, for this figure, they were not enough. I also wanted to ask another question: after someone has owned it for a while, will they still want to stop and look at it?

How the Details Work Together

That is why I did not focus only on the outer shape. The face, blindfold, clothing, silicone body, and internal skeleton all had to support one another. If any part looked careless, the whole figure would lose the feeling of 2B.

A regular fixed model can feel like one completed moment. This 2B figure aims for something different. It should allow the collector to notice new details through light, pose, clothing fit, face outline, and display position.

That difference is the reason I did not make her as a regular PVC figure.

What I Wanted This 2B Figure to Leave Behind

More Than a Similar Outfit

I wanted this 2B figure to leave more than the first impression of similarity.

Of course, she must be recognizable. The black outfit, white short hair, blindfold, boots, and face design all need to lead back to 2B. Without those details, the figure would lose its foundation.

The Memory I Wanted to Keep

Still, looking similar is not enough.

I wanted the figure to remind people of her walking through ruined streets, carrying a mission she could not put down. I wanted it to bring back the feeling of watching a character who rarely explains herself, yet still leaves a strong impression through small movements and pauses.

If a figure only surprises people at first sight, it may soon become another decoration. If it still makes collectors look again after some time, then it has a better chance of becoming something worth keeping.

That is why I did not make 2B into a regular PVC figure.
